<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of driving liquid crystal display device capable of displaying an image of low resolution while making the resolution higher and, at the same time, capable of reducing power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The resolution is made higher by super-resolution processing. Display is performed with the luminance of backlight controlled by local dimming after the super-resolution processing. By controlling the luminance of the backlight, power consumption can be reduced.
