<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structural support device that fulfills the structural demands of the removed corpus vertebrae while still being easy to deploy in a small space. <P>SOLUTION: An orthopedic mechanical support device 4 having a longitudinal axis 30 is disclosed. The device has a slot 22 passing through a first hollow member 24. The slot is defined by a first stop at a first terminal end of the slot and a second stop at the second terminal end of the slot. A second hollow member 32 is positioned radially outside of the first hollow member and configured to rotate with respect to the first hollow member.
