PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small brush unit and a small rotating electric machine excellent in rectification. SOLUTION: A positive pole terminal plate 70 and a negative pole terminal plate 80 are each formed in C-shape. Conduction connecting portions 72, 74 of the positive pole terminal plate 70 are disposed between a body portion 80A of the negative pole terminal plate 80 and conduction connecting portions 82, 84 of the negative pole terminal plate 80, and the conduction connecting portions 82, 84 of the negative pole terminal plate 80 are disposed between a body portion 70A of the positive pole terminal plate 70 and the conduction connection portions 72, 74 of the positive pole terminal plate 70. Thus, even when a positive pole brush member 50 electrically connected to the positive pole terminal plate 70 and a negative pole brush member 56 electrically connected to the negative pole terminal plate 80 are alternately disposed in the circumferential direction, the brush unit 40 is not scaled up in a diameter direction and an activating motor M is scaled down.
