The device has a drivenable winding spindle (6.2) mounted on a spindle carrier (7). A pressure roller (5) is held at surfaces of respective spools (8.1-8.5). The roller is arranged on a movable roller carrier (13.2) that is controllable by an actuator (14) to change a position of the roller relative to the spindle. The actuator is coupled to a controller (17), which is connected to a sensor device (15) to determine lowering of free ends of the spindle. A speed sensor of the sensor device measures winding speed of threads (2.1-2.5) that are wound to one of the spools at the ends of the spindle. An independent claim is also included for a method for winding of multiple threads to respective spools.
