The method involves applying an examining person with an intermediate catabolic product that is marked with a radionuclide (20) i.e. gamma emitter and accumulates in a tumor tissue (22). A breast (4) to be examined is pressed between a support plate (8) and a pressing plate (6). A tomosynthetic three dimensional X-ray image (T) and a nuclear medical image (G) e.g. single photon emission computed tomography image, are taken from the pressed breast, where the nuclear medical image is taken by a gamma detector (26), which is arranged below the support plate. An independent claim is also included for an imaging medical system for performing a method for medical examination of breast.
