摘要 The present invention relates to an automatic voltage regulator and a toroidal transformer, and more specifically, to an automatic voltage regulator capable of precisely controlling a voltage level and a toroidal transformer used therefor. According to the present invention, an automatic voltage regulator for converting an input voltage applied to an input port and outputting the converted voltage to an output port comprises: a main winding, which has one end connected to the input port and the other end connected to the output port; a main exciting winding, which is excited by the main winding; a first switch, which selectively connects one end of the main exciting winding to either a reference potential or the output port; a multiplicity of auxiliary exciting windings, which is excited by the main winding; a second switch, which performs switching such that the multiplicity of auxiliary exciting windings are selectively and serially connected to the main exciting winding, thereby ensuring that one or more auxiliary exciting windings being connected to the other end of the main exciting winding are serially connected to each other as well as to the other end of the main exciting winding; a third switch, which selectively connects a far end of the serial connection created by selective connections between the main exciting winding and the auxiliary exciting windings; and a control section, which regulates the level of an output voltage at the output port by switching control of the first switch, the second switch and the third switch. As such, a precise voltage control is rendered to output a voltage level desired by a user and a variety of applications of power saving and voltage booster may be carried out precisely. In particular, an input voltage can be modified to a voltage level corresponding to 1[turn]. Also, the present invention comprises a simple relay switching circuit, while excluding semiconductor switching devices, so as to operate adaptively in different system environments without additional modification.
