PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that appropriately synchronizes the phases of a plurality of photoreceptors in a short time. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a plurality of photoreceptors which are synchronously rotated in the same direction. The image forming apparatus also includes motors of different drive torques, which rotate corresponding photoreceptors. The apparatus also includes a control means for aligning the eccentric positions on the circumferences of the photoreceptors. The control means includes an adjusting means for modifying the rotating speed of each of the photoreceptors by use of a predetermined amount of correction, aligning the eccentric positions on the circumferences of the photoreceptors, and adjusting the predetermined amount of correction according to the drive torque of the corresponding motor.
