<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing body for a sealed battery which is suitable for rapidly discharging gas in a battery container by opening a valve at a low working pressure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A sealing plate (the sealing body) 5, which forms the battery container of the sealed battery together with a battery container body, includes a plate part 6 for closing an opening part of the battery container body, and a valve 11 arranged on the plate part 6 and opened when an internal pressure of the battery container exceeds a predetermined value. The valve 11 includes three or more grooves 12 to be possibly cleavages, a stress concentration point 13, and valve plate base grooves 14. The grooves to be possibly cleavages 12 are arranged radially. The stress concentration point 13 is formed by gathering one ends of the respective grooves 12 to be possibly cleavages. The valve plate base groove 14 is formed by connecting other ends of the adjacently-arranged grooves 12 to be possibly cleavages at the shortest distance and arranging linearly between the other ends.
