<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage caused by travelling on a rough road or leakage of oil from an oil pan, in an engine having an oil deterioration sensor for detecting deterioration properties of oil. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When installing the oil deterioration sensor 11, an oil chute passage 7 extended from a cylinder head to the oil pan 5 is used, a guide member 12 is provided below a lower opening 7a of the oil chute passage 7 and in an upper part than an oil liquid surface 8 of the oil pan 5, the oil flowing down is gathered by the guide member 12 to be guided (led out) to a cylinder side part, an attachment part 13 of the oil deterioration sensor 11 is disposed on a falling point of the oil guided by the guide member 12, and the flowing down oil is brought into contact with the oil deterioration sensor 11. Accordingly, there is no risk such as damage caused by traveling on the rough road or leakage of oil from the oil pan, which is different from the conventional technique having a sensing part immersed in the oil 6, and the freedom degree of the sensor can be enhanced, and deterioration properties of the oil 6 can be surely detected.
