<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus capable of maintaining the optimum communication characteristics and preventing transmission efficiency from decreasing, even when a transmission line state is not fixed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A PLC modem 100, which transmits data to another PLC modem via a power line 700, includes a communication frame control unit 23, which controls the frame length of a communication frame, on the basis of transmission line characteristics of the power line 700, a communication performance acquiring unit 23 which acquires the communication performance corresponding to the communication frame; and a determination unit 211, which determines whether the frame length of the communication frame needs to be controlled, on the basis of the communication performance.
