PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy wire which is superior in corrosion resistance, an aluminum alloy twisted wire, an insulated electric wire using the aluminum twisted wire as a conductor, and an electric wire with a terminal having the insulated electric wire. SOLUTION: In the aluminum alloy wire used for a conductor of an electric wire for a vehicle, a covered layer is provided on an outer surface of an end of the alloy wire wherein a terminal member made of copper and a copper alloy is mounted. The outermost layer of the covered layer is formed with zinc or a zinc alloy. A battery is formed between the aluminum alloy and the copper or the copper alloy, so that an aluminum alloy is eroded. However, zinc is eroded in advance if a zinc layer and a zinc alloy layer are provided on the surface of the aluminum alloy, and progress of corrosion of the aluminum alloy can be delayed.
