The lighting element (1) has a set of point light sources i.e. LEDs (5a), arranged along a longitudinal direction. Reflector units (3) reflect a part of light beams (6) emitted from the light sources, in a desired direction. The reflector units form a continuous profiled reflector surface (3c) extending in the longitudinal direction. The light sources extend along a line running in the longitudinal direction, extend continuously and alternatingly at a distance from the line, or extend statistically at a distance from the line in a distributed manner. An independent claim is also included for a light box.
