PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve display quality by largely reducing the generation of an afterimage with a lower alignment layer composition. CONSTITUTION: An array substrate(101) includes a switching device, pixel electrodes, and a lower alignment layer(171) which is formed on the lower substrate. In the pixel electrode, slit units which is expanded to different direction in a plurality of domains within each unit pixel area are formed. The lower alignment layer includes a diamine with at least one or more reactive mesogen side chains inducing the slope direction of a liquid crystal. An opposite substrate(201) includes a common electrode and an upper orientation film(261).
