Method and device for detecting a cheque deposit

The method involves capturing an image data of a check by an automated teller machine (ATM) using a reading unit. The image data is transmitted to a web service based on an open application programming interface without resorting to standard protocols of the ATM in a field of payment transactions. The image data is processed by the web service so that text data on the check is recognized, and the recognized data is posted. Multiple data transmission is intercepted by a clear message identification. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an automated teller machine comprising a reading unit (2) a web service server for processing checks.
