The source has a luminophore region that is provided on or before a distal end (9) of a light conductor (5), where the luminophore region is provided with a converter luminophore. The converter luminophore is selected with respect to narrow-band light emitted by a narrow-band light source (11) such that the wavelength of a part of the narrow-band light is increased by the converter luminophore, where the narrow-band light source is a diode or laser.
