The device (11) has an operating element i.e. rotary knob (15), arranged and supported in a receiving cup (19) behind a control panel (12). The receiving cup comprises photo-conducting and/or translucent material according to type of an optical fiber. The receiving cup is illuminated at a rear end pointing away from the control panel by right and left illuminants (32b, 32d) i.e. LEDs. Light outlets are forwardly provided at a front end of the receiving cup around or in the operating element at the control panel.
