In a propulsion system for water craft in which a rearwardly directed jet 7 of water, produced by a centrifugal or other pump 4 powered, e.g. by an internal combustion engine 2, the pump delivers into a free-passage water duct extending longitudinally of the craft. The pump outlet tube 5 discharges into a conical nozzle member 6 the wider end of which receives the rearward ends of water ducts 9 disposed along the sides of the bottom of the boat and having inlets on each side of the prow. The pump draws water through pipes 10 branched from the ducts 9 close to their inlets and delivers a high speed jet into the nozzle 6, the jet inducing flow through the ducts 9.</p> |
