[Also in Group XV] In composite sheets or shaped members in which a core layer of fibres or shavings or both and a binding agent is united with covering layers impregnated with synthetic resin by hot-pressing to consolidate the core and cure the resin, at least one of the covering layers is built up of superposed layers of which at least two have applied thereto different patterns or colourings which produce a combined pattern visible at the surface of the covering layer, and at least the outermost of the patterned or coloured superposed layers is arranged with the side to which the pattern or colour is applied facing inwardly. The covering layers may be paper, asbestos, textile or glass fabric, or wood veneer, impregnated with phenol-, urea-, or melamine-aldehyde resin.</p> |
