841,061. Connecting upholstery springs. ETABLISSEMENTS B. FAURE. March 11, 1957 [March 15, 1956], No. 7992/57. Class 52(4) [Also in Groups XV and XXV] A clip adapted to bind together elements of elongated shape such as for spring cushions, seats and mattresses by being wrapped round the elements when they are juxtaposed, is constituted by a thin plate bent so that it has the form of a U-shaped channel, the two sides 2, 3 of which are inclined at a small angle to each other and have substantially plane inner and outer surfaces and the base portion of which has the form of a section of a cylinder, the sides of the channel being provided with annular projection 8, 9 and recesses 6, 7 so arranged that recesses of one clip will co-operate with projections of another like clip when one of the clips is engaged over the other, thus enabling a number of clips to be formed into a supple yet strong chain from which the clips are easily removable and which is suitable for feeding to an assembly machine. The recesses 6 and the projections 8 are simultaneously formed by punching the plate and the recesses 7 and the projections 9 are similarly formed. The projections 9 are smaller than the projections 8 and the recesses 7 are consequently smaller than the recesses 6 hence when the projections 9 are engaged with the recesses 6 a slight angular displacement of one clip relative to the other is possible. The side 2 of the clip is in the form of a tongue and the side 3 has a recess which receives the tongue when the clip is bent round the elements to be joined together as shown in Fig. 6. |
