Provided are a transmitting apparatus, receiving apparatus, communication system, transmitting method, receiving method and programs thereof wherein at least a plurality of video data included in the data of a plurality of respective contents can be effectively transmitted at the same time. A switch part (32a) of a transmitting apparatus selects, in accordance with video data designated by a transport data control part (32i), one of a plurality of video data supplied from a storage apparatus (42) and supplies the selected video data to an I/F part (32b). The I/F part (32b) transmits, via a terminal (335), a video data as decoded by a decoding part (113), and transmits, via a terminal (336), the compressed video data supplied from the switch part (32a). The terminal (335) is included in a first channel part. For example, if the I/F part (32b) is an HDMI, then the terminal (335) is used for a TMDS channel. The terminal (336) is included in a second channel part and connected to a reserve line, an HPD line or the like. |
