摘要 PURPOSE: Automatic electrode position controlling system and method for an automatic arc-welding apparatus are provided to automatically perform welding process from the start by automatically establishing and maintaining the initial position of a tungsten electrode and by generating arc. CONSTITUTION: An automatic electrode position controlling system for an automatic arc-welding apparatus is composed of a tungsten electrode(1), a drive motor(4), a relay(12), a detection circuit, a rectifier circuit(14), an analog to digital converter(16), a controller. The tungsten electrode is installed so that its rising or falling could be done by an electric slide. The drive motor rises and falls the electric slide. One side of the relay is connected to the output of a constant current characteristic welding power supply. The tungsten electrode base material contact detection circuit generates a tungsten electrode base material contact detection signal when the tungsten electrode makes contact with the base material. The controller generates a relay driving signal in order to convert the moving contact of the relay to a contact in response to a contact acknowldegement signal.
