The method involves placing a motor vehicle (VH) i.e. car, with activated adaptation function (FAD) on a test track (PE). The track is equipped with a test device (DT) comprising a moving target (CM) that is moved with respect to the track at selected speed and along a chosen direction in a controlled manner. The motor vehicle is circulated at another selected speed higher than the former selected speed and along the chosen direction. The moving target of the test device is moved at the former selected speed. A reaction of the motor vehicle is recorded in the presence of the moving target. An independent claim is also included for a device for testing dynamic adaptation function of a motor vehicle.
