The invention relates to a brake shoe (1) for a braking system, having a backplate comprising a friction pad (5) attached thereto, and comprising a means for the detection of wear attached in the region of the friction pad (5). In order to detect wear conditions present on the friction pad (5) and/or for the identification of the brake shoe (1), the invention provides a passive transponder (2), which communicates by means of wireless transmission technology, preferably using RFID (radio frequency identification) technology.
