<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to selectively play back vocal sounds, that is, voice (the song of a singer) and accompaniment sounds. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An apparatus for processing digital audio data includes a Karaoke CD format which is configured so that an audio sector is divided into a part Aa, where the accompaniment sound and the vocal sound are recorded, at the same time, and a part Ab where only the accompaniment sound is recorded, and coding information for distinguishing the parts are recorded. The apparatus separates an audio signal, including the accompaniment sound and the vocal sound at the same time from an audio signal, including only the accompaniment sound by using the CD format to perform the selective outputting. The audio data that include the vocal sound and the accompaniment sound are selectively played back, and the user can enjoy stereophonic sounds close to CD sound, and experience Karaoke sensation by enjoying practice in singing.
