摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of reading a document image with high image quality, without increasing an apparatus scale even at a high document feeding speed, by accurately preventing see-through in accordance with variation in quantity of light from a light source for lighting a front side of a document or variation in image density on a backside of the document. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 1 includes: a line sensor 33 for reading an image on a front side of a document fed along with a feeding path; a dimming member 35 disposed, on a backside of the document, at a position to read the document with the line sensor 33; a density detector 25 for detecting a density on the backside of the document at an upstream side rather than the read position; and a reflection factor adjuster 39 for adjusting a reflection factor of the dimming member 35 on the basis of the density on the backside of the document detected by the density detector 25.
