An H-shaped structure is produced by printing cylinders (2) each controlled by drive regulating units (DRU) (3), one of which acts as a drive controller (DC) (4) and has the functions of a drive regulating unit as well as leading-axle functionality and an interface for a control device (5). The DRU and DC are slaves/bus components. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) A printing machine with a component controlled via a bus system; (B) and for a method for operating a bus system for controlling a component in a printing machine.
