<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus that displays an image, based on a signal in which a signal for a pattern image specifying a partial area of a display area is superposed on an input image signal, and also to provide a display system and a display method. <P>SOLUTION: An image signal and a synchronizing signal are supplied to an input section 110. Based on the synchronizing signal, a pattern generating section 114 outputs a pattern image signal for displaying a specific pattern for specifying a partial area of the display area. A multiplexer 118 superposes the pattern image signal on the image signal.
