Classes 7(2) and 7(3) [Also in Group XXVIII] Control within predetermined limits e.g. 70 to 90‹F. of the temperature air entering an inlet opening 14, Fig. 1 of a filter casing 4 discharging to the carburetter 2 of an I.C. engine 1 is effected by dividing a duct 15 leading to the inlet opening 14 into branches 19, 18 open to sources of cold and warm air respectively and controlling the air flow through them by a temperature responsive flap valve 28 at the junction thereof. Cold air is admitted through the open end 26 of an adjustable silencer tube 23 and warm air past the engine manifold 3. The valve 28 is displaced about a pivot 29 by a thermostatically operated plunger bearing against an abutment 31 of a lever 30 held by a spring 36. The filter is of the oil bath type and has a baffle 10 dividing the incoming air into ducts 8, 9 serving as silencing chambers. Specification 756,640 is referred to. |
