<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a second device driver with a higher function to exist in combination with a general-purpose first device driver corresponding to a plurality of models concerning an image forming system. <P>SOLUTION: The storage part 16 of a printer 10 stores a device ID 101 and a compatible ID (CID) 102. The compatible ID is an identifier associated with a class driver 202 being a simple driver available in the plurality of models. The device ID is an identifier associated with an exclusive driver 203 prepared for each model.
