PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system capable of achieving high-speed AF when using an interchangeable lens fit for a phase difference AF for a camera body corresponding only to a climbing AF system, and a conversion adapter therefor. SOLUTION: The conversion adapter 121 has an adapter control circuit 122, a main mirror 123 and an AF unit 125. The main mirror 123 is turnable, and when the main mirror 123 is in an up-state, the climbing AF by the camera body 101 is carried out.
