PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a speed reducer in which the workability of main bearings is high and thereby cost can be reduced. SOLUTION: The speed reducer 2 includes first and second main bearings 18, 20 interposed between an output member (casing) 16 and fixing members (first and second flange bodies) 12, 14. In this speed reducer, a pair of cylindrical roller trains 60, 61, which comprises a plurality of cylindrical rollers 60A, 61A having rotation axes O2, O3 inclined to the axis O1 of the output member 16, are provided back to back as rollers of the first and second main bearings 18, 20. The inner rings 64, 66 and the outer rings 68, 70 of the first and second main bearings 18, 20 have no flange part that constrains the movement in the axial direction of the cylindrical rollers 60A, 61A, while retainers 74, 76 constrain the movement in the axial direction of the cylindrical rollers 60A, 61A.
