<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide brick for building which is formed by coating the whole surface of an existing building brick with an aqueous coating material prepared by mixing perlite as a lightweight material, glass fiber as a reinforcing material, magnesium oxide as a hardening material, phosphoric acid, and trisodium phosphate with a 20% magnesium chloride aqueous solution and stirring the mixture, casting the mixture into a mold, releasing it from the mold after hardening, drying it, and mixing a modified acrylic resin coating material and waterproof cement into the dried mixture, in order to make the brick be lightweight and have the strength, heat resistance, and heat insulating property. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The mixture of the foamed material perlite [1] and the reinforcing material glass fiber [2] with the magnesium oxide, the phosphoric acid and the trisodium phosphate is hardened with the 20% magnesium chloride aqueous solution [3]. After hardening, the hardened body is coated with the aqueous coating material prepared by mixing the modified acrylic resin coating material and the waterproof cement to form a waterproof coating [4].
