PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of removing the dirt, dust, litters, or the like which adhere to an original during transport of an original, and of allowing reading of high-quality images. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with an original transport unit for transporting the original toward an original glass by a transport roller; an original guide means for guiding the original that is transported from the original transport unit, to pass over the original glass; and an image-reading section including an optical unit for optically reading an image on the original that is moved on the original glass. The original guide means includes a static electricity generating member for generating static electricity by friction due to contact with the transport roller and a cleaning member for charging by static electricity that is generated by the static electricity generating member. In this case, the cleaning member is such that by cleaning the paper surface through attraction of the foreign matters and dust that are attached to the paper surface of the original by the static electricity.
