<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize deterioration in device productivity while avoiding the next start-up failure caused by writing failure in power discontinuity. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An image-forming device includes first and second HDDs for storing various data, a ROM for storing information required for writing to the first and second HDDs, and an HDD control section. When it is determined that data read from the first and second HDDs at the time of startup cannot be restored (S106), the HDD control section detects a write request to the system region of the first and second HDDs, allows the ROM to store information required for writing to the first and second HDDs, acquires data stored in a ROM address coinciding with the address of data determined not to be restorable (S108) from ROM, writes data to the system region of the first and second HDDs (S109, S110), and restores the data that cannot be restored (S112).
