<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article display system which notifies a customer of the presence of displayed articles and draws his/her attention, and urges the purchase of the displayed article. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The article display system includes: an article display unit 10 displaying articles; mats 20 installed at a position on which a customer stands when the customer is present in the vicinity of the article display unit 10; a detecting part 22 connected to the article display unit 10 and detecting that the customer has stood on the mat 20; and an informing part 12 provided at the article display unit 10 and performing prescribed informing operation informing the customer of the presence of the article when it is detected by the detecting part 22 that the customer has stood on the mat 20.
