<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a columnar body which hardly allows columnar bodies fitted to each other to separate from each other even if axial forces act on the columnar bodies, and hardly causes sectional fractures at a connection portion. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The columnar body includes one columnar body A1 having a cylindrical portion 1, and the other columnar body A2 having an axial portion 2. The cylindrical portion 1 and the axial portion 2 of the columnar bodies adjacent to each other in the direction of the column axis X are fitted to each other freely. The columnar body also includes the connection portion R in which the cylindrical portion 1 and the axial portion 2 of the columnar bodies adjacent and fitted to each other are connected freely in a state of being prevented from coming off. On action lines S of the axial forces acting on the columnar body walls on the longitudinal section of the columnar bodies adjacent and fitted to each other, the connection portion R is disposed and a rotation preventing key 20 is provided to prevent the cylindrical portion 1 and the axial portion 2 from relatively rotating around the columnar body axis X. The rotation preventing key 20 is formed as a separate element from the cylindrical portion 1 and the axial portion 2, and shifted in the direction of the columnar body axis X relative to the connection portion R.
