The stopper ladle comprises an opening (4) present in a lower area of the stopper ladle, and a stopper (6) associated to the opening, where the stopper is adjustable in its longitudinal direction relative to the opening. The opening is fluid tightly connected in a first position of the stopper through an end (10) of the stopper and is opened in a retracted position of the stopper so that the liquid casting material is discharged from the stopper ladle and/or flowed into the stopper ladle. The stopper and/or the opening is washed with gas by a spraying device. The stopper ladle comprises an opening (4) present in a lower area of the stopper ladle, and a stopper (6) associated to the opening, where the stopper is adjustable in its longitudinal direction relative to the opening. The opening is fluid tightly connected in a first position of the stopper through an end (10) of the stopper and is opened in a retracted position of the stopper so that the liquid casting material is discharged from the stopper ladle and/or flowed into the stopper ladle. The stopper and/or the opening is washed with gas by a spraying device. The stopper is arranged within the stopper ladle and is partially immersed in the liquid casting material in filled stopper ladle. A cavity (11) is equipped in the interior of the stopper and has an inlet opening (12) for gas, and an outlet opening for gas in the area of the opening turned to the ends of the stopper. The cavity is formed through a cylindrical channel equipped in the stopper. The cylindrical channel is open at the end of the stopper turned to the opening. An inert gas is guided in the cavity by a gas supply apparatus. The stopper completely or partially consists of aluminum titanate. The opening is equipped in a perforated brick fixing in a base of the stopper ladle. A line contact or area contact exists in the first position of the stopper between an external circumference of the stopper and internal circumference of a wall forming the opening. A metering tube mounting on the opening is arranged at a lower side of the stopper ladle. The fluid material is flowed off from the stopper ladle and/or flowed into the stopper ladle in the position of the stopper over the metering tube. The stopper ladle has openings associated with the stopper and a metering tube. The openings- and/or closing movement of the stopper is simultaneously controlled by a control. An independent claim is included for a method for filling a stopper ladle with liquid casting materials.
