<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce paper making felt in a good efficiency by holding the form of thread layer stably in its production process without excessive reduction or elevation of air permeability and void rate when constituting a base layer supporting a butt fiber layer with a yarn layer in which only the yarns extending in one direction are arranged. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the paper making felt, the base layer 2 is constituted by a base material 8 obtained by laminating a nonwoven sheet 7 for holding its form with a yarn layer 6 obtained by arranging only the yarns 5 extending in one direction, the nonwoven fabric sheet consists of a material obtained by mixing fibers of a low melting fiber containing a resin material capable of melting at a prescribed temperature and a dissolvable fiber containing a resin material dissolvable with a prescribed solvent, the yarn layer and the nonwoven sheet are fixed by heating/melting the low melting fiber, and also the dissolvable fiber is removed by eluting into the solvent after a needling step.
