PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive sheet treatment device with high binding performance capable of preventing a cover from tearing or getting wrinkled regardless of an intersheet friction coefficient. SOLUTION: In the sheet treatment device, a bundle of sheet is transferred while a projection transfer means 825 bends the bundle of sheet by pressing it at a position to become a crease. With a folding transportation means, the bundle of sheet is nipped in a pair of folding rollers 826 with a folding portion bent by the projection transfer means 825 as a leading end, and is transported by rotating the pair of folding rollers 826, whereby the bundle of sheet is folded while being transported. When the bundle of sheet is folded while being transported with the folding portion thereof bent by the projection transfer means 825 nipped in the pair of folding rollers, a projection folding speed control means controls such that the transportation speed of the bundle of sheet by the folding transportation means does not exceed the travel speed of the projection transfer means 825.
