<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding nozzle apparatus which has improved safety by securely preventing the malfunction of an operator in a face pressure load releasing operation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sliding nozzle apparatus 10 includes a foolproof members 23 preventing the malfunction of an operator in the face pressure load releasing operation. The foolproof member 23 has a strip shape, and the proximal end part thereof is pivotally supported by the side edge part of a heat preventive cover 18, and is freely turnable in a plane orthogonal to the moving direction of a slide flask 13. In the intermediate part of the foolproof member 23, an insertion hole 26 into which a projection part 25 provided at a connection member 24 is inserted is formed in a state where a pressure block 14a is hooked with a hook 15. The foolproof member 23 has a length allowing at least the distal end part thereof to reach a position into which a cotter 16 is inserted, and when the foolproof member 23 is turned to the side of the cotter 16, the foolproof member 23 is contacted with a cotter lever 16a which has been tilted down and the connection member 24.
