PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raw material composition for producing a resin for optical parts, having excellent transparency, a low linear expansion coefficient and low water content, as well as generating no cracks and stable against heat to generate no yellowing and also excellent in processability, and optical parts. SOLUTION: The raw material composition for a resin for optical parts (1) comprises a (meth)acrylate compound (A) having an adamantyl group expressed by general formula (I) and a (meth)acrylate compound (B) containing no cyclic hydrocarbon, and (2) satisfies a ratio of the (meth)acrylate compound (A) expressed by general formula (I) wherein n=1 and the (meth)acrylate compound (B) wherein n=2 to 4 to the total amount thereof of 55-0 mass% to 45-100 mass%. (In the formula, X represents a polycyclic aliphatic hydrocarbon group or an aromatic hydrocarbon group and/or a monocyclic aliphatic hydrocarbon group; Y independently represents a direct bond, a 1-4C alkylene group or a 1-4C oxyalkylene group; R<SP>1</SP>independently represents H or methyl; n is an integer of 1-4).
