PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheave of which replacement timing can be readily and reliably determined by enabling to visually inspect a side wear condition of the sheave readily and reliably using a quantitative standard. SOLUTION: The sheave 10 includes an annular body 11 having a sheave flange portion 12 at an outer edge thereof configuring a groove 13 having a bottom 14 on which a wire slides and two side walls 15-1, 15-2 each continuing from each end of the bottom 14. In a region 17 that is in a region corresponding to one side wall 15-2 and is a region at a predetermined depth from an outer surface 12a of the sheave flange portion 12, a wear recognition member 16, which is configured of a material different from that of the sheave flange portion 12 and which has a color visually distinguishable from the side wall 15-2, is buried. The wear recognition member 16 is provided in plurality, and they are buried at predetermined angular intervals in a circumferential direction of the sheave flange portion 12 along the entire circumference of the sheave flange portion 12.
