PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce, particularly, construction labor and construction cost when reinforcing an existing simple girder bridge so as to make it exert durability even in the case that a great live load is imposed thereon. SOLUTION: An expansion member 12 is provided in such a manner as to overhang to the center of a span from at least an edge end of a bridge abutment base 11 or a bridge pier 92; an existing simple girder 29 is supported by a support 83 which is arranged on the expansion member 12; an anchoring bracket 15 is spliced to an existing vertical stiffening material 14 which is positioned at the side of a bridge-axis-direction end with respect to a new supporting point for supporting the existing simple girder 29 by the support 83; a lower end of a cable 16 for prestressed concrete which is inserted through the anchoring bracket 15 is anchored to the bridge abutment base 11 or the bridge pier 92; the cable 16 is tensioned; and thus, the maximum bending moment in the center of the span is reduced.
