<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator capable of surely prohibiting lifting operation of a car, in a state where a clearance exists in a lower part of car doors. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This elevator 30 has the car doors 11a and 11b arranged in the car 10, an upper gate switch 22 and an upper limit switch 23 being an upper closing door detecting device arranged in an upper part of the car doors 11a and 11b, a lower limit switch 33 being a lower closing door detecting device arranged in a lower part of the car doors 11a and 11b, a car door opening-closing device 12 for opening-closing the car doors 11a and 11b, a control device 31 for controlling driving of the car door opening-closing deice 12, and an elevator control device 32. The car door opening-closing control device 31 outputs a lifting operation permission signal of the car 10 to the elevator control device 32 when detecting closing door of the car doors 11a and 11b by the upper closing door detecting device and the lower closing door detecting device.
