<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid oxide electrolysis cell which can alternately conduct a fuel cell reaction and a high-temperature water-vapor electrolysis reaction with high efficiency, and can be practically used as both of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and a solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC). <P>SOLUTION: The solid oxide electrolysis cell includes: an electrolyte membrane 11 which is electrically insulative and shows electronic insulation properties and oxygen ion conductivity; an oxygen electrode 12 formed on one principal surface side of the electrolyte membrane 11; a hydrogen electrode 13 which is formed on the other principal surface side of the electrolyte membrane 11 and contains a cermet of nickel with a ceria-based ceramic material; and a pair of power-collecting materials 14 and 15 formed on the principal surface sides of the oxygen electrode 12 and the hydrogen electrode 13 respectively on the opposite side to the electrolyte membrane 11, wherein the current density of an electric current flowing through the oxygen electrode 12, the electrolyte membrane 11 and the hydrogen electrode 13 via the pair of the power-collecting materials 14 and 15 is controlled so as to be less than ±0.6 A/cm<SP>2</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
