<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly start rereading even if correction occurs in a document to be read even in reading the document having a plurality of pages. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A document reading unit 3 feeds the document to optically read images on the surface for acquiring image data. A display unit 7 displays the read image data. An input unit 7 inputs instructions for continuing to read the document. A read control unit 51 performs read control to the document reading unit 3 for reading less than several pages from the top of the document and performs display control of the read image data onto the display unit 7. The read control unit 51 controls the continuation or stop of reading the document to the document reading unit 3, based on an instruction input from the input unit 7.
