PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound reproducing apparatus and a sound reproducing method which utilize a human hearing sense process characterized by distinguishing sound for each incoming direction based on information on an arrival time difference between both ears and an amplitude difference. SOLUTION: The sound reproducing apparatus 1 includes a plurality of speakers 112. The sound reproducing apparatus 1 further includes a sound source position estimating section 303 for estimating a sound source direction in a user's listening position for a sound source other than the reproducing sound source, and an output coefficient determining section 306 for selecting, as a reproducing speaker, a speaker 112 located in the direction which differs the most from the estimated sound source direction.
