The method involves performing a corrective intervention during operation of a motor vehicle based on a value corresponding to slip (lambda) at a wheel (10) of the motor vehicle. Speed of translational displacement of a wheel carrier towards or opposite to a driving direction and rotational speed based on rotation of the carrier with respect to a motor vehicle body (12) are detected from signals of sensors (18, 20) i.e. acceleration sensors. The speed of translational displacement and the rotational speed are utilized for calculating the value. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle comprising wheels.
