PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in a conventional fuel injection pump that lubricating oil splashed onto a plunger passes through a clearance between the plunger and plunger barrel to be mixed into fuel which results in the deterioration of exhaust smoke ascribable to blackening of fuel and adhesion of carbon flour onto an injection port part in a fuel injection nozzle due to incomplete combustion. SOLUTION: A fuel injection pump 1 keeps a plunger 10 reciprocally slidably in a plunger barrel 11 and a pressure chamber 15 between one end of the plunger 10 and the plunger barrel 11. The other end of the plunger 10 projects in a direction opposite to the pressure chamber 15 from the plunger barrel 11 so as to interlock with a roller tappet 20. The roller tappet 20 reciprocally slides in a tappet chamber 16 through direct drive by a cam 21. The roller tappet 20 always projects to the plunger barrel 11 side from the tappet chamber 16 in the whole area of slide stroke. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
