PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid overvoltage to an AFE (Analog-Front-End), and also eliminate constraints on the sequence of an electric supply source during high-speed driving. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus includes a CCD 4 for photoelectrically converting light reflected from an original; a timing signal generating part (TG) 3 for generating a drive signal for the CCD 4; a CCD drive driver (DRV) 6 for driving the CCD 4; and the AFE 5 for receiving a sample hold signal SHD and a photoelectrically converted image signal SIG and performs sample hold and A/D conversion of the image signal, wherein the sample hold signal SHD input to the AFE 5 is supplied through the CCD drive driver 6. The image reading apparatus includes an SHD control unit (SHD_CTL) 9 for turning on and off the sample hold signal when the scanner is powered on and off, respectively. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
